Some drug-addict Floridian made the mistake of threatening the wrong person.
Anthony Nemeth walked into a Walgreen’s and demanded that the lady behind the counter give him some oxycodone.
He made the mistake of telling that woman that he had a gun.
I say that was a mistake because the lady’s boyfriend, David West, was within earshot and he’s a trained fighter. Obviously, his “fight or flight” instinct went straight to “fight.”
Chivalry is not dead.
West quickly pulled Nemeth’s shirt over his head and proceeded to deliver the appropriate pounding.
As it turns out, Nemeth wasn’t even armed. He was just bluffing.
I don’t think he’ll try that bluff again, though.
“I wasn’t trying to be malicious in any way. It’s just how I reacted to the situation,” West said.
West pinned Nemeth down until the cops arrived. He was happy he protected his girlfriend but sad to see the suspect battling drug addiction. “The whole time I was holding him down it really, really hurt my heart,” West said.
“I did what I had to do to protect the person I love. I hope he gets the help he needs and I hope it helps his loved ones too.”
Well done, good sir. You’re as humble as you are powerful.
