Another day, another story of a cop who’s in trouble for a social media post.
This time it’s about Ohio Police Officer Lee Cyr, who publicly applauded the suicide of a Black Lives Matter activist.
Cyr posted the note “Love a happy ending” next to a story about 23-year-old MarShawn McCarrel taking the easy way out.
That statement was posted on a page devoted to Ohio politics.
Cyr wasn’t the only person who digitally applauded McCarrell’s suicide, either.
“One less to worry about,” one reader wrote.
“Now if only all black lifes matter members would follow suit that would be great,” another said.
Cyr was placed on leave following the comment. Now, there’s an investigation under way to determine the department’s social media policy.
“When we were made aware of a Facebook post that was linked to a Fairborn police officer, an internal affairs complaint was initiated,” Fairborn Police Chief Terry Barlow said.
