The crusty Senator who leads the Democrats in the U.S. Senate wants illegal immigrants to have lawyers. And he wants you to pay for it.
Harry Reid (D-Broken Treadmill) took the floor of the U.S. Senate yesterday to decry the fact that you hard-earned money isn’t financing legal counsel for people who don’t even belong in this country in the first place.
“Under current U.S. law, there is no right to appointed counsel in non-criminal immigration removal proceedings, even if the person in question is a child. Imagine that,” Reid said. “The humanitarian crisis at our doorstep demands that we, as Americans, affirm our fundamental values of protection and due process.”
The problem with our “humanitarian” process is that it incentivizes immigrants to come here illegally because they know that they’ll get free counsel, among other freebies. That means our nation will attract some unsavory sorts like the jackass who killed Kate Steinle.
By the way, creating an environment that leads to Americans dying at the hands of illegal aliens isn’t “humanitarian.”
Reid introduced legislation supporting his half-wit idea with the really sappy name of “Fair Day in Court for Kids Act.” He probably called it that because “Help the Starving Puppies Act” just didn’t seem to fit well enough.
The legislation is supported by Democrats because 1) they don’t care about the law and 2) they’ll get more votes from Hispanics because of it.
